Prescription Renewal

In recent years, the clinic’s doctors have received a lot of requests for medication prescription renewals without seeing the doctor, either by verbal request from the patient or by fax from the pharmacy. This practice is to be discouraged and we try to avoid it as much as possible. This is a great waste of time and prevents your doctor and his team from treating you well for your medical needs.

The renewal of your medication should be planned during your medical visit with your family doctor.

You will need to check with your pharmacist the expiry date of your prescription to make your appointment, within 1-2 months, with your family doctor. It is your responsibility to prepare your visit and plan for the renewal of your prescriptions with your doctor.

Prescription renewals by telephone or fax are to be discouraged. Prescription renewals provided without an appointment to see your doctor will be charged an administrative fee of $20

It should be noted that pharmacists can often renew or extend the majority of your prescriptions for a period of 30-90 days. (costs may be associated)

Some exceptional cases may be represented without an appointment at the discretion of your physician and if your situation applies. We try to avoid these situations as much as possible.
