Family Medicine Group (FMG)

Groupe de médecins familiale (GMF)

A family medicine group (GMF) is a group of family physicians who work in close collaboration with other health care professionals. This work organization makes it easier for clients to access medical care.

Each doctor takes care of his own patients, who are registered with him, but all the doctors who are members of the GMF have access to all the medical files. Thus, a person who comes for a consultation in the minor emergency can be seen by a doctor other than his own. If necessary, he can also meet a nurse or other health professional of the GMF for different follow-ups.

This team collaboration allows:

• assures a  better follow-up of patients health and the sharing medical information;
• improves the quality of medical care
• improves access to medical care
