Periodic medical exam

In order to maximize access to health care, the periodic medical appointment replaces the old ” annual appointment ” because healthy adults do not necessarily need to meet their family doctor at each year. The suggested frequency of follow-up for medical appointments is:

  • adults without particular health problems aged less than 50 years – appointments at 2 – 3 years intervals
  • Healthy adults over the age of 50 – appointments at every 2 years
  • patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease or pulmonary – appointments at every 3 – 6 months depending on the state of health the patient

The periodic medical exam appointment is the time to review the list of all your medications and to renew them if necessary. Please bring a recent updated list of all your medications from your pharmacy as well as the list of those medications that need to be renewed.

Your doctor will suggest when you need to schedule your next periodic medical exam appointment for the follow-up of your medical condition.

It is your responsibility to take note of this date and to call 2 or 3 weeks in advance to make an appointment.
